As the owner and CEO, Babbis Voulgaris, I am thrilled to introduce Kontokali Bay Resort & Spa and Voulgaris Hospitality Group as leaders in sustainable tourism. We are committed to making a positive impact on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors.
Withs sustainability prioritization in mind, we have ushered our properties into a new era of responsible hospitality. Our comprehensive actions and initiatives aim to reduce energy consumption, minimize waste, conserve water, promote biodiversity, and support local communities.
By actively participating in the Conservation Collective, a network of local foundations funding grassroots conservation initiatives to protect the environment and combat climate change, as a member of the steering committee I strive to foster collaboration, inspire innovation, and drive positive change in the realm of environmental conservation.
In May 2023, we held a Global Gathering in Corfu, bringing together foundation directors, team members, and key stakeholders for knowledge exchange and idea generation. It was a valuable event hosted by the Ionian Environment Foundation (IEF) and Kontokali Bay Resort & Spa, furthering our commitment to conservation efforts.

At Kontokali Bay Resort & Spa, we are proud to have actively participated in the pilot phase of the Harmonized ESG Framework for Tourism Businesses, a collaborative initiative between the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and Oxford University. By embracing this groundbreaking collaboration, we have demonstrated our commitment to sustainable practices and our dedication to shaping the future of the tourism industry. Our involvement in the program, from June to July 2023, has allowed us to contribute to the development of a standardized ESG framework, enabling us to assess our environmental impact, preserve natural resources, respect host communities, ensure economic viability, and reduce poverty. We are excited to share our experiences and learnings as we continue to lead the way towards a more sustainable future.
